The VA runs on policy, guidance and procedure spread across thousands of documents and systems. Staff spent their time searching, or waiting on the help desk to search for them.

We built VA GPT on Azure and OpenAI, inside the VA's own infrastructure. It uses retrieval-augmented generation over VA datasets and cites every source, so staff can check an answer before they act on it. Models can run offline within the VA boundary, and PII is filtered automatically.
