Callr
Callr is a web service that facilitates the process of connecting to conference calls. It integrates with either Google or Outlook calendars and connects to call events that its algorithm identifies.
Motivation
It grew out of our frustrations with having to fumble through calendar events and emails right before each conference call. After about the hundredth time, someone remarked, "there has got to be an easier way." We each searched for existing solutions, but none were the right fit. We were not looking for a conference calling service replacement. More often than not, we were being invited to conference calls by larger organizations that already had a conference call service. What we wanted was a tool that simply worked with any and all conference calling services out there.
Process
Development started on September 9, 2013. The first task had the following acceptance criteria:
- Users login and enter their cell phone number
- Users connect their Google Calendar
- Callr automatically calls
Ten days later, we had a product that was ready for testing. Life has not been the same since then.
After having enjoyed the convenience of using Callr for about eight months, we decided to share it with the world. On October 2, 2014, we launched Callr at DC Tech Day.
