World Cup 2010: The Billion People Sport
Twenty years ago. The year; 1990 and I was only eight. Argentina vs. West Germany.
The World Cup finals in 1990 was the first time I can remember what I felt about soccer. I remember it as if it was yesterday. I remember crying my eyes out after Argentina lost to West Germany to 1-0 and my brothers mocking me for weeks. That was twenty years ago and I was only eight.
The World Cup has become to symbolize the interaction of human beings. It brings out raw emotions from every end of the spectrum — from the weak team to the strongest, everyone cheers, prays and some cries for a win. It is unlike any other event — a billion people watch it passionately. The sheer power of the event dwarf any other.
The face and delivery method of this great event has changed over the years. This year, South Africa, the first African Nation to hold a World Cup, will take the center stage once again and for the first time, we will be watching the event in full HD and live stream online. There is also some rumor that they might test 3D. Can you imagine what the experience will be like in this highly-connected, social world? I am for sure ready to experience the game once again at this young century.
Until the game begins, I thought I’d share what I just saw. This is official video of the World Cup 2010 by K’naan and David Bisbal. It was warm, exciting and upbeat. I enjoyed it throughly. I wish you the same.

I can’t get tired of listening to this song!
